The Disintegration Factor

The world was eating itself and everyone was celebrating. It happened so suddenly, so quickly at first. It was a giant sink hole that ate the asphalt and the empty bus that sat above it.

It was examined by experts, all of whom eventually disappeared. They'd explained that the hole was slowly expanding from within the center of the parking lot in which it began.

People were scared at first but soon began uproarious cheering with each evacuated building that crumbled into the earth. The pace quickened to a point in which a countdown was applied. The hole became reliable but not for long.

The mouth was getting greedy and opened wider with unpredictability. Entire families were being swallowed whole. Wonders of the world and state capitals collapsed into the blackness. The countdown wasn't fun any more.

Everyone migrated toward their final end but only Tim knew he was truly in the center.
